This is Joe Lupton with his new Ultra Stick 60. This was a
Christmas present from his wife.
He had to promise not to fly it until she could be there for the first
flight. I don't think she
has much faith in his flying skills. It flew beautifully!

Richard Witt helps Joe with his first flight preparations. Richard has been here
with us
since last summer when he arrived on an assignment with the Army. He is a super
fellow
and a very good pattern pilot. He helped us get started with the Senior Pattern
Association
event and was always willing to help someone who needed it. Well, today was
Richard's
last day with us. He is retiring from the Army on 1 March and leaving to go back
home
to Alabama. He made a lot of friends while he was here. We will miss you,
Richard.
Thanks for sharing with us your love for RC!

While some of us was setting around watching the action,
we noticed this little blue
Ultimate Bipe (left) doing some amazing flying. The pilot was doing
rolling circles at
an altitude of about fifteen feet without going more than one hundred feet away
from himself.
This was done very quietly and very slowly! The model was electric powered and
had
amazing maneuverability. When he finally landed after about a fifteen minute
flight, we went over
to see the model. It was made from 1/4 inch sheet foam in one evening and the
cost of materials
not counting the motor and radio was around a buck. WOW! The pilot is Brian
Foveaux and he
was being helped by his dad who was down from Washington. The model plans
can
be downloaded from the web and printed out. The web site is www.foamyfactory.com
.

Brian and his dad are checking out the controls on another
model they built. This one
is somewhat larger and is fully 3-D capable with very large ailerons and
tail surfaces.
Watching him fly this in a very small area was something else.

Here he is hovering the larger model. GOTTA HAVE ONE!
